Amphibious habitat is a
competition lunched by LOBBY
(Bartlett school of
architecture)
The aim of the competition
was to define an artefact
representing the relation
between the land the sea
inspired by Malaga shore.
In our opinion the artefact
was an amphibious creatures
[human].

AMPHIBIOUS CREATURE
The maritime facade is a result
of a longtime growing process
that through time and history
modified perception and
morphology of the cost.
What were simple access to
water became part of city fabric,
piers became quarters and
boats became houses.
Square concrete volumes were
rise to dwell this human made
cliff of tall concrete buildings
that cast shadows on the
seashore. Production and
consume turned beaches into
industrial areas in order to
gain the power to fight sea’s
brutal force by dragging and
building land in a colossal
quest of civilization.
Men defeated the enemy by
taking energy and resources
from it to make themselves
stronger.
Pipes are digging and tearing
apart the submarine lands to
loot resources, sucking away
water to produce waste and
pollution.
Men became cranes and
then they became amphibious
creatures of concrete and
smoke. They put green on top
of these massacre to pretend
there’s still a link with the
same nature they destroyed,
a fake man made forest.
This is a message to all those
who want to perpetuate the
atrocity of sea colonisation
and pretend that we are,
behind the beauty pretext,
not poisoning the sea with
concrete and smoke:
considerate how armies of
concrete cubes and steel
pipes are affecting marine
habitat and seashore life,
you can now admire the
sculpture of mankind.
A maritime artificial tree
that dominates tides and
fights stormy oceans to
spread human civilisation
as a shadow over the water.
